Hello, I am researching my family history. I found in the 1880 US census that my Great Grandfather, James Albert McHale, was living with his sister and brother-in-law, Annie McHale Elliot and George Elliot. Can anyone help me to make connections as to the Elliots? Your help is greatly appreciated.

The Elliott Brothers Steel Company of New Castle, Pennsylvania was formed in 1893 by brothers Noah Elliott (GG Grandfather) and George Elliott and was open for more than 100 years. In 1943 they, along with their peer company Blair Strip Steel, produced all the steel pennies in the U.S. during WWII.

Corporal Franklin Maynerd “Bud” Elliott of New Castle, Pennsylvania (cousin of my Grandfather Thomas) was killed while storming the beach in Normandy during WWII. He was one of the names honored during the anniversary ceremony under President Bill Clinton. My grandfather used to joke that he was so strong he would try and flip over the coils of steel at the mill which they worked at as kids.

Thomas Cook Elliott (Grandfather) attended Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania and fought throughout Africa and Europe in WWII. He became president of Elliott Brothers Steel Company. He was very adventurous and philanthropic throughout his lifetime. After the war, He bought a BMW motorcycle and rode it across Europe with my Grandmother Mary. They would later ski all the popular mountains through Europe, Canada and the US before having 7 children and a huge extended family. In the 60s, they turned their backyard into a full scale baseball field for all the neighborhood kids to play in.

Brothers Noah Elliott and Dustin Elliott (1st cousins) both attended The Naval Academy on scholarship in the early 2000s, both were successful linebackers on the football team winning various awards. Dustin once won the “Chevrolet Player of the Game”.

William Elliott born 1764 in Augusta along with William Gay and Mr Blackburn were the first to survey and explore many parts of what is now Kentucky long before Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett . The party consisted of only the 3 men and was a hazardous mission due to the hostile Indians.
